Personal Projects

personal and educational works

These are projects and work that don’t fit neatly into a story, but demonstrate my different interests and skills. I love to learn, and make an effort to stay curious. Though not all of my passions directly correlate to design, they all help me communicate my thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways. Widening my toolkit and making me a better designer.

sketching & rendering

At the beginning of my design education I had no formal sketching training and was the weakest in my class at it. Working hard to improve, I eventually was hired to assist working on a sketching program because of my sketching skills. I now love drawing, and work on it constantly.

graphic design

Graphic design has never come easily to me. I have forced myself to practice and improve because communicating ideas is a fundamental design skill. My best work has come from my recent volunteer work for Type Thursday’s Atlanta chapter. An international organization centered around type design, with monthly chapter meetings offering critique and presenting new ideas.

prototyping

There are a million methods of model making, and I am always learning a new one. Capable of creating high fidelity models from paper to plastics, I was taught to prototype at Georgia Tech. 3D printing, laser cutting, vacuum forming, carpentry, and even a little welding over my time there. I enjoy working in shop spaces, and currently work in a fabrication lab at SCAD.

game design

I love video games. Like many, I grew up playing them with family and friends. As I grew older, just playing them wasn’t enough, I wanted to make games. Currently I have created several in game jams with friends, and helped design and build an arcade machine at Georgia Tech. My latest work has been on Wild Americas, designing it’s UI. You can find it on Steam now!

3D Modeling

I started 3D modeling in high school, and it has been one of the most important skills in my career. Using Fusion, Solidworks, Maya, Keyshot, Materialise, Blender, for everything from animation to product design. I am always modeling and most recently learned to design VR & AR experiences.

interactive products

My focus while at Georgia Tech was in interactive product design. Designing smart products using Arduino and Raspberry Pi. I love interactive design, and even volunteered as a mentor at the Interactive Product Design Lab (IPDL) at Georgia Tech. Teaching students skills like coding and soldering.
